HOLLYWOOD PARK - HANDICAPPING PICKS AND SELECTIONS FOR SAT.

REMEMBER- 1st time starters cannot be rated with my system. They must be considered. I will list the 1st timers in the order I believe they will finish.

ALWAYS REMEMBER- The 5 point difference between horses rule - Any horse that is rated within 5 points of each other has a good chance of beating each other on any given day. You should also consider a horse who is dropping or moving up in class. If drop is large enough he may be very competitive with the horses at this level. The same is true with a horse moving up the class level. If the jump in class is too much he may have a difficult time being competitive with these horses.

HOLLYWOOD PARK -

Tomorrow is opening day at Hollywood Park with a new turf course. First post time is 1:20 p.m.

There is no racing today.

Here is some information about my system for the new people.

My system does not use computer generated selections. All selections are made with an ordinary home calculator and ink pen.

I use the assigned weight of the jockey (better horses are assigned more weight), the horses best two speed ratings of his last 3 races (how fast he ran for the conditions). I use the last three places the horse finished in his races ( was he placed at the right level by the trainer). I adjust ratings for turf to dirt and dirt to turf (most horses run faster on the turf). I also make an adjustment for the distance of the race.

I have a mathmatical formula I created over a 5 year period over 25 years ago. The final number that I list after each selection has taken in all these factors. A horse should have had 3 races for the figure to be completely accurate. I do list a figure if a horse has run only 1 race but he may not repeat the effort the same way.

A difference of 5 points on the top selection from the 2nd selection should be a good bet. Any horses within 5 points have a good chance of beating him to the finish. We all know that the best horse does not always win. Stumbles, clipped heels, no racing room and boxed in on the rail and most of all Jockey's dumb decisions account for most horses problems.

I hope this helps our new followers understand the system better and how the selections are made. Watch the point differences between the selections and then make your decision on how to bet the race.

I wish you the most important factor of all GOOD LUCK.

SANTA ANITA - FINAL DAY RECAP & SOME QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Sun. recap- We had a very good closing day at Santa Anita. Using just the top picks we had 6 winners on top and the final pick 4, two pick-3's, 3 Daily Doubles and 4 trifectas. This was the way to end the meet. Race 1-Top pick won (3.80) 3rd pick 2nd (6.70) top pick keyed- Ex (10.70) 4th pick 4th. Race 2- 4th pick 2nd (9.00) 2nd pick 3rd (3.40) top pick 4th. Race 3- Top pick won (3.40)2nd pick 3rd (3.00) 3rd pick 4th. Race 4- 2nd pick won (5.80) top pick 2nd (3.60) boxed- Ex 6.80) 4th pick 3rd (2.40) picks boxed- Trifecta (19.50) 3rd pick 4th. Race 5- 1 pick scratched, Top pick 2nd (3.20) 3rd pick 4th. Race6- 4th pick 2nd (7.20) top pick 3rd (4.80). Race 7- Top pick won (6.60) 3rd pick 2nd (3.40) 4th pick "tied" 3rd (3.60) top pick keyed- Ex (8.10) Trifecta (38.40). Race 8- Top pick won (4.40) Daily Double (16.80) 3rd pick 2nd (5.00) 2nd pick 3rd (2.60) top pick keyed to next 2 picks- Ex (10.60) Trifecta (24.90). Race 9- Top pick won (4.40) Pick 3- (26.70) Daily Double (12.00) 3rd pick 2nd (4.40) Top pick keyed to next 2 picks- Ex (10.60). Race 10- Top pick won (7.00) Pick 4- (85.80) Pick 3- (24.50) Daily Double (13.80) 2nd pick 2nd (2.80) Ex (9.20) 3rd pick 3rd (3.20) Trifecta in exact order (38.30). We are looking forward to Hollywood Park.

Some questions answered-

Why do I post 4 horses for each race?
I post 4 horses with their ratings for each race as my figures are made and usually posted before scratches. If one is scratched you would still have 3 selections. I also like to play superfectas and trifectas with my system and to box the different horses or key the top horses to the others.

Recap payouts -
I list the payouts on the minimum bet such as a $1 trifecta, $2 Quinella, $1 Exacta, $1 Superfecta, etc. as given by the track results. I have a small advantage betting here in Reno on Quinellas at the racebook I go to as they offer a "house Q"- this is 1/2 the win price times the place horses price. They pay either the track payout or the "house Q" payout, and I receive the highest of the two.

Are my listed horses in the order that they should be bet?
N0- I have pointed out the 5 point difference rule many many times( see yesterdays post). Also the 1st time starters cannot be rated under my system and they must always be considered. I do try to list the 1st time starters in the order I believe they will finish. If there are a couple of high rated horses and then a gap between the next horse's figure I would usually include the 1st timer. If his works are very good I would also include him.

Do I make money all the time?
I make money over a longer period of time but I have streaks just like every bettor does. I have a very good day for me with the trifectas. The next racing day???? I post my picks with the ratings, I post the payouts that were possible if you used the picks. How you bet the picks is the key. My top horse wins alot but many of the payouts are small. If the 5 point rule is there I may bet the 2nd or 3rd horse to win. I only make win bets (no place or show) unless the odds are very high on my selection, then I may make a place bet. I never make a show bet. I like to key my horses that stand out with their ratings and or box 3 or 4 horses for my trifectas and superfectas. If I make a quinella bet I usually box three horses unless I have a standout to key and then I key that horse to three others.

Program number does not match horses name.
This has happened twice that I know of in over 250 posts on the blog. If it does occur use the program number and the rating for that horse. I enter the program numbers with the ratings first and then the horses name. I do not ever remember having the program number wrong for the selection I wanted with the horse's rating.

I hope this has answered some of the questions that you have about my system.I post information on the system on non racing days at the Southern Calif. tracks. You can go back on my posts on those days for more information.

The best handicapping tool you can have? GOOD LUCK.

SOME INFORMATION ON MY SYSTEM

There is no racing at Santa Anita today.

Sun. recap- Race 1-Top pick won (2.80) 3rd pick 2nd (3.20) top pick keyed- Ex (5.10). Race 2- top pick eased, 1pick scratched, 3rd pick 3rd (3.60). Race 3- 4th pick 2nd (3.80) top pick 3rd (3.00). Race 4- 2nd pick won (28.80) 1st timer 2nd (16.00) Ex (240.60) top 1st timer 4th. Race 5- 4th pick 2nd (5.20) top pick 3rd (3.20). Race 6-3rd pick won (9.60) 4th pick 2nd(11.20) top pick 4th, picks boxed- Ex (63.70). Race 7- 1 pick scratched,Top pick won (5.20) 2nd pick 2nd (3.20) Ex (6.50) 3rd pick 3rd (2.80) Trifecta in order (17.20). Race 8- Top pick won (7.80) Daily Double (19.00) 3rd pick 2nd (6.80) 4th pick 3rd (4.40) 2nd pick 4th, picks boxed- Ex (28.90) Trifecta (141.40) Superfecta (378.60). Race 9-Top pick won (5.80) Daily Double (26.20) Pick-3 (33.40) 3rd pick 2nd (4.40) 2nd pick 4th, top pick keyed- Ex (13.40).

THERE IS NO RACING AT SANTA ANITA MONDAY OR TUESDAY.

Some questions answered.

This has happened twice that I know of in over 200 posts on the blog.

GOOD LUCK.

SANTA ANITA - INFORMATION ON MY SYSTEM

There is no racing at Santa Anita today.

The final number that I list after each selection has taken in all these factors.A horse should have had 3 races for the figure to be completely accurate. I do list a figure if a horse has run only 1 race but he may not repeat the effort the same way. A difference of 5 points on the top selection from the 2nd selection should be a good bet. Any horses within 5 points have a good chance of beating him to the finish.

We all know that the best horse does not always win. Stumbles, clipped heels, no racing room and boxed in on the rail and most of all Jockeys dumb decisions account for most horses problems.

I hope this helps our new followers understand the system better and how the selections are made. Watch the point differences between the selections and then make your decision on how to bet the race.

I wish you the most important factor of all GOOD LUCK.
