SANTA ANITA - HAPPY HOLIDAYS

There is no racing at Santa Anita today. We will have our picks and selections up for racing tomorrow - opening day.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS

SANTA ANITA - THINGS TO LOOK FOR AT MEET.

There is no racing at Santa Anita today. Racing will start on Monday 12/26/2005 at 12:00 noon.

Things to look for at Santa Anita's meet.

Look for fewer controversial rulings from the stewards at this meet with the appointment of established veterans Tom Ward, George Slender, and newcomer Scott Chaney, a former assistant to trainer Darrell Vienna.

Look for two wel-regarded 2 year olds beginning opening day at Santa Anita. Cindago from Sadler's barn and Point of Impact from Bob Baffert's stable. Point of Impact is a $750,000 son of 2001 Horse of the Year Point Given's first crop.

Look for Steve Knapp, who won his first training title at the Oak Tree meet, to continue his winning ways at Santa Anita. He has quite a few turf horses and about 50 horses overall in his active stable. He rested about 15 horses getting them ready for the Santa Anita meet. He has a lot of horses ready to run.

Look for Santa Anita to remove it's replay show from the over-the-air T.V. It will only be shown over the selfish Magna-owned HRTV, the track's in-house network.

Look for more talk about bringing Polytrack to the Southern California tracks. It's not a matter of "if" it is going to happen but "when" it's going to happen. It should bring some out-of-town trainers and horses to California as they now claim that they don't race in California because the surfaces here pose a greater risk of injury than their home tracks.

Look for more owners in California to quit racing and quit the game. As races don't fill and go, as more purses go down and expenses keep going up it creates a bad combination for the owners. They are getting tired of it.

Look for racing meets in the future (3-4 years) to have a combination of quarter horses and thoroughbreds on the same card. I am not talking about the Fair meets but at our regular tracks. Possibly with 10 to 11 races with 6 being thoroughbred races and 5 being quarter horse races.

Look for further major problems at all California tracks before anything is done to stop the decline of the tracks, purses, and number of horses at the meet. California's racing's future appears dim.

SANTA ANITA - SOME TIPS ON MY SYSTEM.

There is no racing at Santa Anita today. Racing will begin on Monday, 12-26-2005.

Hints about my system.

- You should always remember the 5 point rule between horses. Any horse that is rated within 5 points of each other has a good chance of beating them on any given day. You should also consider a horse who is dropping or moving up in class. If drop is large enough he may be very competitive with the horses at this level. The same is true with a horse moving up the class level. If the jump in class is too much he may have a difficult time being competetive with these horses.

Not every race should be bet.

First time starters cannot be rated with my system. They must always be considered. I will list the 1st timers in the order I believe they will finish at the bottom of each race's picks. I take into consideration-work out times, number and distance of workouts, trainers connections and morning line oddsmaker predections.

SANTA ANITA -HANDICAPPING INFORMATION

There is no horse racing at Santa Anita today. Racing will resume on Monday, 12/26/2005.

We will get to have some turf races and maybe more horses per race at Santa Anita. Santa Anita has one of the most unusal and beautiful turf course in the 6 1/2 furlong down hill. Most bettors think the inside posts are the place to be. I have found that the horses with the outside posts tend to do better on the downhill course.

Another mistake that bettors make is they believe the turf course is softer than the normal track. The turf is harder and faster than the normal track. The speed figures need to be adjusted for this when a horse is changing from one surface to the other.

I also have noticed that 1st time starters tend to have problems when their first start is from post position # 1 on the main track. The horse tends to break toward the rail and thus does not break as fast as the others. This is also true with a 1st timer starting from the far outside post. He will tend to break to his right. Naturally this is not true for all 1st time starters but it must be considered while handicapping the race.

I hope that Santa Anita has some qualified stewards that will make fair and just decisions on the rules and jockey objections. At Del Mar and Hollywood Park you not only had to beat the other horses you had to beat the Stewards unjust decisions. As a trainer or jockey a lot depended upon what your name was and what you attitude towards the stewards was. I hope this is not the case at Santa Anita.

Friday I will post some tips on my system.

SANTA ANITA - SOME QUESTIONS ANSWERED ABOUT MY SYSTEM.

There is no racing at Santa Anita today. Racing will resume on Mon. 12/26/2005.

Some questions answered.

Why do I post 4 horses for each race? I post 4 horses with their ratings for each race as my figures are made and usually posted before scratches. If one is scratched you would still have 3 selections. I also like to play superfectas and trifectas with my system and to box the different horses or key the top horses to the others.

Recap payouts - I list the payouts on the minimum bet such as a $1 trifecta, $2 Quinella, $1 Exacta, $1 Superfecta, etc. as given by the track results. I have a small advantage betting here in Reno on Quinellas at the racebook I go to as they offer a "house Q"- this is 1/2 the win price times the place horses price. Then they pay either the track payout or the "house Q" payout, and I receive the highest of the two.

Are my listed horses in the order that they should be bet? N0- I have pointed out the 5 point difference rule many many times (see Nov. 22 post). Also the 1st time starters cannot be rated under my system and they must always be considered. I do try to list the 1st time starters in the order I believe they will finish. If there are a couple of high rated horses and then a gap between the next horse's figure I would usually include the 1st timer. If his works are very good I would also include him.

Do I make money all the time? I make money over a longer period of time but I have streaks just like every bettor does. Monday was a very good day for me with the trifectas. The next racing day????

I post my picks with the ratings, I post the payouts that were possible if you used the picks. How you bet the picks is the key. My top horse wins alot but many of the payouts are small. If the 5 point rule is there I may bet the 2nd or 3rd horse to win. I only make win bets (no place or show) unless the odds are very high on my selection, then I may make a place bet. I never bet a show bet.I like to key my horses that stand out with their ratings and or box 3 or 4 horses for my trifectas and superfectas. If I make a quinella bet I usually box three horses unless I have a standout to key and then I key that horse to three others.

I hope this has answered some of the questions that you have about my system. I post information on the system on non racing days at the Southern Calif. tracks. You can go back on my posts on those days for more information. The best handicapping tool you can have? GOOD LUCK.

HOLLYWOOD PARK - TIPS ON MY SYSTEM

Hollywood Park had the option to race today and chose not to race. The last week for their meet will run Thursday thru Monday. Then we we have a small break and open at Santa Anita on Dec. 26th.

HOLLYWOOD PARK - INFORMATION ON MY SYSTEM

There is no horse racing at Hollywood Park Today. Racing resumes tomorrow.

Here is some information about my system for the new people.

My system does not use computer generated selections. All selections are made with an ordinary home calculator and ink pen. I use the assigned weight of the jockey (better horses are assigned more weight), the horses best two speed ratings of his last 3 races (how fast he ran for the conditions). I use the last three places the horse finished in his races ( was he placed at the right level by the trainer). I adjust ratings for turf to dirt and dirt to turf (most horses run faster on the turf). I also make an adjustment for the distance of the race.

I have a mathmatical formula I created over a 5 year period over 25 years ago. The final number that I list after each selection has taken in all these factors.A horse should have had 3 races for the figure to be completely accurate. I do list a figure if a horse has run only 1 race but he may not repeat the effort the same way.A difference of 5 points on the top selection from the 2nd selection should be a good bet. Any horses within 5 points have a good chance of beating him to the finish. We all know that the best horse does not always win. Stumbles, clipped heels, no racing room and boxed in on the rail and most of all Jockeys dumb decisions account for most horses problems.

I hope this helps our new followers understand the system better and how the selections are made.Watch the point differences between the selections and then make your decision on how to bet the race. I wish you the most important factor of all GOOD LUCK.

HOLLYWOOD PARK - QUESTIONS AND RECAP

Sun. recap- Race 1- Top pick 3rd (2.40) 3rd pick won (3.20) 4th pick 2nd (5.20) picks boxed- Q (10.80) Ex (7.80). Race 2- Top pick won (5.20) 2nd pick 2nd (6.90) Ex (6.90) 4th pick 3rd (3.20) top pick keyed-Trifecta (35.40). Race 3- 4th pick won (9.80). Race 4- Top pick 2nd (3.20) only 1st timer 3rd (3.80). Race 5- 2nd pick won (5.40) 3rd pick 3rd (3.20). Race 6- Note: this race had 11 1st time starters listed. If you took my top pick with top 4 1st timers you made some very good money. Top pick 2nd(3.40) top 1st timer won (12.00) Ex (22.90) Q (20.40) 4th 1st timer 3rd, 2nd 1st timer 4th - boxed - Superfecta (3,122.90) Trifecta (209.40). Race 7- 4 picks boxed- Superfecta (121.30) Trifecta (44.90) Top pick 2nd (3.00) 2nd pick won (10.60) Ex (11.20) Q (9.60) 4th pick 3rd (3.00) 3rd pick 4th. Race 9- top 3 picks boxed - Trifecta (45.80) Ex (22.00) Q (23.20) 3rd pick won (9.00) 2nd pick 2nd (5.00) top pick 3rd (2.40).

There is no horse racing at Hollywood Park today. Racing will be held on WED. 12/14/2005.

Yesterday was a very good day for me with the trifectas. I never bet a show bet.

I like to key my horses that stand out with their ratings and or box 3 or 4 horses for my trifectas and superfectas.

GOOD LUCK.

HOLLYWOOD PARK -INFORMATION ON MY SYSTEM

No racing at Hollywood Park today.

I also make an adjustment for the distance of the race.I have a mathmatical formula I created over a 5 year period over 25 years ago. The final number that I list after each selection has taken in all these factors.

A horse should have had 3 races for the figure to be completely accurate. I do list a figure if a horse has run only 1 race but he may not repeat the effort the same way.

A difference of 5 points on the top selection from the 2nd selection should be a good bet.

No racing at Hollywood Park today.

Some questions answered.

I have been receiving requests to teach my system step by step from several of you fellow bettors in order that you can use it at different tracks. This is something that I have thought about over the years as many of my friends have wanted the same thing. I decided against this as I live in Reno Nv and enter different handicapping contests and Double Quinella contests and I do not want to compete against my own figures. I will continue to post my top 4 figures in each race for the Southern Calif. tracks on racing days. It does work at all tracks without having to make adjustments so don't worry about a horse that has shipped in from another track. His figure should be valid.

Yesterday was a very good day for me with the trifectas. I never bet a show bet. I like to key my horses that stand out with their ratings and or box 3 or 4 horses for my trifectas and superfectas.

GOOD LUCK
